Concept
More than 200 square meters of Kumiko were extensively incorporated as wall features throughout the private dining rooms.
A variety of traditional patterns are brought together, with panels of different scales composed like contemporary cubes, uniting the delicacy of Kumiko with an architectural sense of scale.
Patterns filtering the light, deep shadows, and the quiet presence of a predominantly black interior.
Together, these layers create depth and a lingering sense of atmosphere— a contemporary reinterpretation of the Japanese aesthetic of Yūgen.
