Project: Japanese Restaurant—”AOKAWA”
Pattern: Auspicious Pattern—Rindō
Concept Elegant and composed. The Rindō motif—long revered in Japan as a symbol of noble strength— is interpreted here in two expressions that define the atmosphere of the space.
The openwork pattern evokes a sense of breeze crossing a clear stream, while the washi-lined lattice diffuses light softly across the wall, layering gentle shadows and depth into the surface. As these two layers overlap, a quiet rhythm emerges— like ripples expanding across a blue river— and the patterns subtly shift their expression with every change in perspective.
Each material was chosen for restraint, allowing the natural grain and tactile warmth of the wood to speak for itself. The repetition of the Rindō motif carries auspicious meaning, imbuing the entire space with a sense of “strength within stillness.”
